a lot of these jobs are genuinely shit (compared to what im doing) because i think like ... they do not condition the worker to pride autonomy or take pride or their work and there isnt really much visible skill progression which makes the worker feel "huh i could like take this skill and use it somewhere else". a lot of bricklayers who work on site eventually develop a sense of pride with their work and they end up doing more personally aesthetically pleasing work either for fun or for like well off peoples houses
