I heard the door close and sighed in relief. Finally, it was over.

I had been dreading this day for weeks – my annual family reunion. Don’t get me wrong, I love my family, but these reunions always turn into chaotic events with everyone trying to outdo each other and show off their accomplishments.

It’s exhausting trying to keep up with all the bragging and one-upmanship. And then there are the awkward conversations with distant relatives you barely remember or don’t even know at all.

But this year was different. This year, I decided to take a stand and not participate in the drama. Instead of engaging in pointless arguments or feeling pressure to impress anyone, I just sat back and observed from a distance.

And you know what? It wasn't so bad. In fact, it was kind of entertaining watching my cousins try to outdo each other's stories about their fabulous vacations or promotions at work.

As I sit here on the couch sipping my glass of wine, I can finally relax knowing that it’s all over now. No more forced smiles or fake interest in someone else’s life achievements.

From now on, I’m going to focus on creating meaningful relationships with my family instead of competing with them for validation and attention.

So yes, it’s definitely over now –the chaos has died down and everyone has gone home. But for me,it marks a new beginning–one where I prioritize genuine connections over superficial competition.And that is something worth celebrating. is it over yet
