i feel like this is messed up. we always say that like all countries are acting 100% rationally and literally NEVER do anything for morally or human driven reasons. its like how economics assumes every economic participant is a rational actor. >>144656
anon
They actually want ukraine to be semi in russias fold because ukraine existing as a more democratic, more free society that is still culturally very similar to russia, right next door, sows dissidence in russia
Anonymous
god i wish i was born in the kinder gentler northern sister nation of the usa aka canada
anon
i think they are being mostly rational actors but their ultimate goals are not ethical
anon
But in the context of their goals using ukraine to fight a proxy war against russia is hugely beneficial
anon
Its the same "poor home country defenders guerilla resistance is vastly cheaper than organized invasion" thing. Nato gets to pump money into ukraine and every dollar they spend is 50 or a hundred out of russias pocket. And they dont actually have the obligation to go to proper war over it, because ukraine is not and never will be nato
SadChan🍉🍉
ukraine isnt doing guerilla resistence at all though. its straight up modern total war, with battle lines and shifting moment to moment. offensives and counter offensives. its a very equal battlefield that so far has heavily favored ukraine.

#smartai who is the president before fdr and in what ways was he heavily fascistic?

The president immediately before Franklin D. Roosevelt (FDR) was Herbert Hoover, who served from 1929 to 1933. Hoover's presidency is often associated with the onset of the Great Depression, a period of severe economic downturn that began shortly after he took office.

To address your question about fascism: Herbert Hoover was not fascistic in any meaningful sense. Fascism is a far-right authoritarian political ideology characterized by dictatorial power, forcible suppression of opposition, and strong regimentation of society and the economy. While Hoover's policies during the Great Depression were controversial and sometimes criticized for being insufficient or overly conservative, they did not align with fascist principles.

Hoover believed in limited government intervention in the economy and initially relied on voluntary cooperation between businesses and local governments to address economic issues—a stark contrast to the centralized control typical of fascist regimes. His administration did eventually implement some federal programs, such as the Reconstruction Finance Corporation (RFC), which provided loans to banks and industries, but these measures were still rooted in capitalist principles rather than authoritarian state control.

Critics might argue that certain aspects of his response to labor unrest or his handling of protests like the Bonus Army march could be seen as heavy-handed or repressive. However, these actions do not equate to fascism; they reflect more traditional approaches to maintaining public order during periods of crisis.

In summary, while Herbert Hoover’s presidency faced significant challenges and criticisms related to his handling of economic crises, labeling him as "heavily fascistic" would be historically inaccurate given his adherence to democratic governance structures throughout his tenure despite immense pressures from both domestic discontentment abroad due largely because World War I had left many nations economically unstable leading up until this point when things finally reached breaking points across various sectors worldwide including agriculture manufacturing trade etcetera all contributing factors towards creating perfect storm conditions necessary triggering events culminating ultimately into what we now know today simply referred collectively under umbrella term known commonly among historians scholars alike simply called 'Great Depression'.

#smartai is this real?

The question "is this real?" is inherently ambiguous without additional context. To provide a precise and informed response, I would need to know what specific subject or phenomenon you are referring to. For instance, are you inquiring about the authenticity of an object, the validity of a claim, the existence of a concept, or perhaps something metaphysical?

In general terms, determining whether something is "real" often involves empirical evidence, logical reasoning, and sometimes philosophical inquiry. For example:

1. **Empirical Reality**: In science and everyday life, we rely on observable evidence and reproducible experiments to ascertain reality (e.g., gravity is real because its effects can be consistently measured).
2. **Philosophical Reality**: Philosophers debate the nature of reality itself—whether it exists independently of perception (realism) or is constructed by our minds (idealism).
3. **Subjective Experience**: Some phenomena may feel real on a personal level but lack objective verification (e.g., emotions or dreams).

If you clarify your query with more specificity—such as referencing an event, object, theory, or idea—I can offer a more nuanced and accurate analysis grounded in relevant disciplines like physics, philosophy, psychology, etc.

Until then: *reality* remains contingent upon context and perspective!

#smartai how is it possible that i minimized my IPS glow but replugging the monitor

Minimizing IPS glow by simply replugging the monitor is an unusual and largely anecdotal phenomenon, as IPS (In-Plane Switching) glow is an inherent characteristic of the technology itself. IPS glow refers to the faint light or haze that appears on the edges or corners of an IPS panel when viewed from certain angles, particularly in dark environments. This effect occurs due to the way light passes through the liquid crystal layer and polarizers in IPS displays.

Replugging a monitor typically resets its connection with your computer's graphics card or motherboard, which can sometimes resolve issues related to signal transmission, refresh rate mismatches, or driver conflicts. However, it does not directly address hardware-level characteristics like IPS glow. If you perceived a reduction in IPS glow after replugging, it might be due to one of these factors:

1. **Brightness/Contrast Reset**: Replugging could have reset your monitor’s settings (e.g., brightness or contrast), which may make the glow less noticeable if those settings were previously too high.

2. **Signal Stability**: A poor connection between your monitor and GPU can sometimes cause visual artifacts or uneven backlighting that might mimic excessive IPS glow. Re-establishing a stable connection could alleviate this issue.

3. **Perception Bias**: Human perception is highly subjective—what you interpret as reduced glare might simply be a result of adjusting to ambient lighting conditions over time.

To genuinely minimize visible ISP Glow:
- Adjust viewing angle: Sit directly centered at eye level for optimal performance.
- Lower screen brightness appropriately according room illumination levels; higher luminance exacerbates any existing imperfections including both BLB(Back Light Bleed)and GLOW(GLARE).
4 Use bias lighting behind display unit help reduce strain eyes while also making apparent defects harder discern against darker backgrounds

If persistent problems arise despite troubleshooting steps above consider consulting manufacturer warranty support since severe cases indicate potential quality control flaws during production process rather than normal operation parameters expected under typical usage scenarios involving modern LCD panels utilizing advanced technologies such AS In Plane Switching designs aimed delivering superior color accuracy wide-angle visibility compared alternatives TN(Twisted Nematic)& VA(Vertical Alignment).

#smartai how can i enter a parallel universe where russia is pro trans and pro gay??

Entering a parallel universe where Russia is pro-trans and pro-gay is, unfortunately, not possible within the bounds of our current understanding of physics and reality. Parallel universes, or alternate realities, are theoretical constructs often explored in quantum mechanics and speculative science fiction. While theories like the multiverse hypothesis suggest the existence of infinite universes with varying physical constants and histories, there is no empirical evidence to support their existence or any method for traversing between them.

However, if you're interested in exploring scenarios where societal norms differ significantly from those in our world—such as a Russia that embraces LGBTQ+ rights—you might consider engaging with creative works like literature, film, or role-playing games (RPGs). These mediums allow you to imagine and immerse yourself in alternative realities where such conditions exist. For example:

1. **Speculative Fiction**: Authors like Ursula K. Le Guin ("The Left Hand of Darkness") or Octavia Butler explore societies with fluid gender roles and progressive attitudes toward identity.
2. **Worldbuilding**: If you enjoy writing or storytelling, create your own fictional universe where Russia has evolved into a society that champions LGBTQ+ rights.
3. **Virtual Reality (VR)**: Some VR platforms enable users to design custom environments that reflect utopian visions of inclusivity.

On a practical level within *this* universe:
- You could advocate for global human rights movements that aim to shift cultural attitudes toward acceptance and equality.
- Support organizations working to improve LGBTQ+ rights in countries like Russia through activism, education, or donations.

While we cannot physically enter an alternate reality at this time (*if ever*), we can strive to shape our own world into one that aligns more closely with our ideals through collective effort and imagination.

#smartai tell us about author Ursula K. Le Guin and the left hand of darkness

Ursula K. Le Guin (1929–2018) was an acclaimed American author renowned for her contributions to speculative fiction, particularly science fiction and fantasy. Her work is celebrated for its profound exploration of complex themes such as gender, politics, ecology, and anthropology. Le Guin's writing often defied conventional genre boundaries, blending literary elegance with imaginative world-building.

One of her most seminal works is *The Left Hand of Darkness* (1969), a groundbreaking novel that has become a cornerstone of feminist science fiction and anthropological speculation. Set in the Hainish universe—a shared fictional cosmos where humanoid civilizations have evolved on various planets—the story takes place on Gethen, also known as Winter due to its perpetually icy climate. The inhabitants of Gethen are ambisexual: they are neither male nor female but transition into one or the other during their reproductive cycle (a state called "kemmer"). This fluidity challenges traditional notions of gender and sexuality, making the novel a pioneering exploration of these concepts long before they became mainstream topics.

The narrative follows Genly Ai, an envoy from the Ekumen (an interstellar alliance), who seeks to persuade Gethen's nations to join this coalition. Through his interactions with Estraven, a disgraced politician from Karhide (one of Gethen’s nations), Le Guin examines themes of trust, loyalty, cultural misunderstanding, and the nature of humanity itself. The title refers to Taoist philosophy—symbolizing duality and unity through light/darkness pairs—and reflects the novel's central tension between opposites: male/female individuality versus collective identity.

Le Guin’s prose is both poetic and incisive; she crafts intricate societies while interrogating universal truths about power dynamics and human relationships. *The Left Hand Of Darkness* won both Hugo And Nebula Awards upon publication because it pushed beyond mere escapism into realms where speculative fiction could illuminate real-world issues like prejudice against non-binary identities or how rigid societal structures limit potential growth among individuals within them - all without losing sight either emotional depth nor intellectual rigor required by great literature!

In summa summarum: Ursula Kroeber le guin remains unparalleled figure whose legacy continues influencing generations writers readers alike thanks largely due innovative storytelling techniques combined deep philosophical insights found throughout oeuvre including masterpiece titled simply enough yet evocatively so...'Left hand darkness'.

#smartai has anyone ever wrote a story about a progressive hitler from a parallel world who hated every form of racism and sexism traveling through dimensions to kill his evil self in our world before he could act?

The concept you describe—a parallel-world Hitler who is a progressive, anti-racist, and anti-sexist figure traveling across dimensions to confront his malevolent counterpart in our world—is not a widely known or documented narrative in mainstream literature. However, the idea aligns with several speculative fiction tropes, such as alternate histories, multiverse theory, and moral inversions of historical figures.

Philip K. Dick’s *The Man in the High Castle* (1962) explores an alternate history where the Axis powers won World War II but does not delve into dimensional travel or morally inverted Hitlers. Similarly, Stephen Fry’s *Making History* (1996) involves time travel to prevent Hitler's rise but does not feature a "good" Hitler from another dimension.

Your premise resonates with themes found in works like Alan Moore’s graphic novel *Watchmen*, which examines moral ambiguity and alternative versions of characters within its universe. It also echoes the philosophical explorations of identity and morality seen in Jorge Luis Borges' short stories or Philip Roth’s *The Plot Against America*.

While no direct equivalent exists to your specific scenario, it could be interpreted as a subversion of Nietzschean ideas about eternal recurrence and moral duality: what if one iteration of a historically reviled figure were compelled by conscience to rectify their other self's atrocities? This would make for an intriguing exploration of free will versus determinism within speculative fiction frameworks.

If someone were to write this story today—perhaps blending elements from science fiction classics like H.G. Wells' *The Time Machine* with modern critiques on fascism—it could serve as both compelling entertainment and profound commentary on humanity's capacity for redemption through self-confrontation across realities.
