quantum and ai seem like such hype trains at this point i can never take them seriously

quantum is a billionn times more hype than AI

AI is sort of a nothingburger (its extremely good at doing data analysis but it does the same things humans can do just faster)

it has lots of really good applications for example identifying protein chains in DNA, like the folds that actually are viable

the way they did it before was they made it into a loading screen game that companies would put up and people would learn the rules of the folds and it would be gamified so they would essentially just do a protein and return if it was viable or not and it was way faster than researchers trying to do it themselves

but AI just did it all and btfo'd every other method

yeah seems like the only things ai has done well is protein folding and formal emails. everything else is worse
