so the darkness between stars formed shapes, not the stars themselves
SadChan🍉🍉
and they believed that the child of inti the sun god emerged with his wife from lake titicaca and walked to cusco and founded the city and the path he walked form the lake to cusco was the first inka road, and thats why inkas found roads to be holy and incorporated them into hte religion. and before you enter the holy city of cusco you had to purify yourself by bathing in the waters outside the city so you were pure to enter one of hte 4 gates (there were 4 main roads) and didnt bring filth into the holy city

sapir word and time
SadChan🍉🍉
wtf
SadChan🍉🍉
#ai explain sapir worf and time

the sapir-whorf hypothesis (often called linguistic relativity) suggests that the language you speak shapes how you think or perceive the world. for time, this could mean cultures with different temporal language structures—like aymara, where past is "in front" and future is "behind"—experience time differently. weak version says language influences thought, strong version says it *determines* thought. most support the weak version.

some studies show language affects time perception—mandarin speakers might think vertically about time (上个月 "last month" = "up month") vs english’s horizontal (aftEr/befOre). but causality’s messy. not "language = prison," just a lens.

>Aymara, an Amerindian language spoken in the Andean highlands of western Bolivia,
southeastern Peru, and northern Chile,2 appears to present a fascinating contrast to these
well-known patterns, and a challenge to the cross-cultural universals of metaphoric cognition
that have been slowly building up in our databases. In Aymara, the basic word for FRONT
(nayra, “eye/front/sight”) is also a basic expression meaning PAST, and the basic word for
BACK (qhipa, “back/behind”) is a basic expression for FUTURE meaning. We therefore need to ask how seriously we should take these simple lexical data as evidence about the cognitive construals of Aymara speakers. Further, is it in fact an instance of the same mappings we have seen in other languages, “reversed” in some way, or are there quite different metaphoric mappings involved? How would we know?

>The Moka is a highly ritualized system of exchange in the Mount Hagen area, Papua New Guinea, that has become emblematic of the anthropological concepts of "gift economy" and of "Big man" political system. Moka are reciprocal gifts of pigs through which social status is achieved. Moka refers specifically to the increment in the size of the gift; giving more brings greater prestige to the giver. However, reciprocal gift giving was confused by early anthropologists with profit-seeking, as the lending and borrowing of money at interest.[1]

bakedbeans!!yJFwnIEMsg
yes
bakedbeans!!yJFwnIEMsg
everything
bakedbeans!!yJFwnIEMsg
no exceptions
SadChan🍉🍉
idk if I see promethean as being eldritch horror coded.
SadChan🍉🍉
it seems to mostly be a storyline of like... im trying my best as a freak of artifice
bakedbeans!!yJFwnIEMsg
the cthulhu bit was semi a joke, i agree with your take tbh
SadChan🍉🍉
I like promethean more I think as something neat about the world to maybe incorporate as an NPC or antagonist in another white wolf game
bakedbeans!!yJFwnIEMsg
one of my frens is gonna be running a hunter the reckoning game, i'll have to bring that up to him as an idea for a possible antagonist
might be more interesting than "ooooo spooky vampire/werewolf"
SadChan🍉🍉
yea, especially since the created have kind of an underdog and sympathetic backstory a lot of the time so its like, he can be a sympathetic antagonist
bakedbeans!!yJFwnIEMsg
sympathetic villains are the best kind
SadChan🍉🍉
for sure
SadChan🍉🍉
dont tell grogs on /tg/ that they will have a meltie tho
bakedbeans!!yJFwnIEMsg
>make thread
>sympathetic villains are the best kind, what do you all think

bakedbeans!!yJFwnIEMsg
i don't even know how big that number is but it looks really big
bakedbeans!!yJFwnIEMsg
also elves are cool
eepyanon
Eles are smart and otherworldly
eepyanon
elves
eepyanon
I wonder if that's a storyline, helping people become elves, usually it's fighting the elves or interacting with them and seeing how they're better but maybe it's magic who made them as they are
bakedbeans!!yJFwnIEMsg
one of my favourite dnd characters i've played was an elf rogue/artificer
robin hood but with less "take from the rich" and more "take the rich's lives"
eepyanon
F rich
eepyanon
what was his line for killing like 1% 50%
bakedbeans!!yJFwnIEMsg
the DM had us fight an enemy with a laser gun and i ended up with it
rogue with a laser gun, who he gonna zap
>>197893
SadChan🍉🍉
i am a half elf irl
SadChan🍉🍉
every time my friend group makes like charts of what we all are as a pass time im always a half elf i kind of identify with it and it makes me happy that other people reach that conclusion on their own 2 lol
>>197896
bakedbeans!!yJFwnIEMsg
half elves are cool
half drow specifically have interesting stuff
>>197901
eepyanon
>>197888
but you can see the laser silly that's not a invisivle rogue thing
>>197894
bakedbeans!!yJFwnIEMsg

yeah, but it did a ton of damage and i relocated after every shot so it mattered less
they can shoot at where i was, they could never shoot at where i am now

oooh

>>197891
cool can you do magic or like talk to animals
bakedbeans!!yJFwnIEMsg
my first character was a yuan ti, i like them
SadChan🍉🍉
im like a half elf, cause i dont fit in anywhere and im trying my best T_T
>>197900
bakedbeans!!yJFwnIEMsg
i feel that to an extent
bakedbeans!!yJFwnIEMsg
i got The Tism so i don't quite fit in

did you know dnd 6 removed all the half races? :O

now its called heritage or smth
bakedbeans!!yJFwnIEMsg

meanwhile pathfinder 2e made it so EVERYONE can be a half elf/half orc
you can have a half-elf-half-ratfolk
SadChan🍉🍉
a dwelf >:)
eepyanon
relf
bakedbeans!!yJFwnIEMsg
yes indeed
bakedbeans!!yJFwnIEMsg
you can have a gnoll-orc
eepyanon
gnoll-elf
SadChan🍉🍉
i dont think uc an ahve that depending on the setting lol
SadChan🍉🍉
gnolls are fucking wierd in dnd
bakedbeans!!yJFwnIEMsg
oh i mean mechanically
SadChan🍉🍉
gnolls dont breed
bakedbeans!!yJFwnIEMsg
oh yeah, and pathfinder renamed them but i can't remember what they called them now
bakedbeans!!yJFwnIEMsg
they renamed a ton of things to break away from dnd
SadChan🍉🍉
I like that pathfinder 2E made goblins one of the mainline races, that was neat.
>>197921
bakedbeans!!yJFwnIEMsg
e.g. half elves are now called aiuvarin (i think that's how you spell it)
bakedbeans!!yJFwnIEMsg
>>197919
goblins are interesting
bakedbeans!!yJFwnIEMsg
pathfinder made them fun for fire-magic builds with their race feats
SadChan🍉🍉
pathfinders goblins are interesting.
SadChan🍉🍉
grayhawk goblins are just little evil guys you squish
bakedbeans!!yJFwnIEMsg
did have a bad experience in 5e with someone playing a goblin who had severe protagonist syndrome
ended up friendly firing our party's artificer to death and threw a shit fit when called out
SadChan🍉🍉
i had a problem once with a friend who had main character syndrom when I friendly fired the party
SadChan🍉🍉
I had a spell that knocks everyone in an area down and does 1D4 damage or smth, really low amount of damage. its mostly for tripping. our bard ran in and was surrounded by like 15 goblins in the underdark. so my genasci sorcerer cast the spell to trip all the goblins around him and the bard like IRL got mad at me and rolled to intimidate me into not casting the spell
bakedbeans!!yJFwnIEMsg
yeah that's a fair situation for FF
in my case the artificer was down but in a space where they could have been dragged out, and the spell was a full-power Cone of Cold
>>197930
eepyanon
awww
bakedbeans!!yJFwnIEMsg
the player ended up getting booted from the server for unrelated reasons
SadChan🍉🍉
I get where the bard player was coming from, there was some friendly gnome NPCs in the area and I think he was interpreting that as a hostile action. he was playing a tiefling that was like.... the goodest good guy who will die to protect a stranger type of character.
SadChan🍉🍉
but the DM was a new DM and letting him roll to intimidate me into him playing my character was kind of...
bakedbeans!!yJFwnIEMsg
yeah that's not the best move
SadChan🍉🍉
I think we argued for like 25 mintues and he got REALLY mad and his feelings were really hrut and I cast the spell and it literally didnt hit him or any of hte NPCs....
bakedbeans!!yJFwnIEMsg
my frens and i play on discord so whenever there's a disagreement the DM just tends to mute the people arguing and ask them to resolve it out of session
SadChan🍉🍉
lol just do a roll off, its that easy
SadChan🍉🍉
flip a coin
SadChan🍉🍉
and move on
SadChan🍉🍉
xD
bakedbeans!!yJFwnIEMsg
coin flips solve everything
SadChan🍉🍉
the only other problem I had in all my years of roleplaying was actually him DMing, we are still good friends, and another friend of mine got mad because my character whos backstory was staunchly anti elemental / anti outsider said "IM GOING TO ATTACK THOSE ELEMENTALS" and the other friend accused me of being a murder hobo
eepyanon
I like telling coolstories but yeah I guess ttrpgs have such an element of 'you're not allowed to do that/I'm doing this which interferes with your story/ok we've al agreed on the story we're going to tell already so we're all going to say what was agreed on'
SadChan🍉🍉
even though I said many, many times I was anti elemental.
bakedbeans!!yJFwnIEMsg
never seen a racist character outside of that one time my friend accidentally made quote-unquote elf hitler
>>197947
SadChan🍉🍉
I was playing a lawful evil Druid raised by blue dragons lol
SadChan🍉🍉
>>197945
if anyone was oging to be hitler in ForgRealm it would be elves lol
bakedbeans!!yJFwnIEMsg
it was a custom setting where elves had mostly died out, and the whole deal was this guy was kind of a caricature, he got all his knowledge about "le ancient elves" from books
SadChan🍉🍉
Literally I was confused by why he was so angry because all he had to do was in character say, "no dont do that" and like... ROLEPLAY and convince me not too.
SadChan🍉🍉
thats like 90% of having an evil characte rin the party anyway xD
bakedbeans!!yJFwnIEMsg
i like playing evil sometimes, i lean towards neutral evil
played an NE yuan-ti wizard who was more "amoral evil" than active burn-down-orphanage (there was a reoccurring joke we had where we never confirmed whether or not he had in fact burned down any orphanages)
>>197953
SadChan🍉🍉
I was a druid so I had to be lawful.
SadChan🍉🍉
>>197951
Yuan-Ti are cool because their evil comes from like... sociopathy and being alien and inhuman. They are alien and judging them by human terms is wierd because thats just how they are lol. One of the cooler DND races imo.
bakedbeans!!yJFwnIEMsg
yuan ti was also my first character
a bard sent to spy on the "surface folk" who went native after realising they're actually not what he was told they were
SadChan🍉🍉
i had a friend who did yuan ti as his first chracter too
na-dee-eh (mobile version)
@shrimp
bakedbeans!!yJFwnIEMsg
i also like them because poison immunity funny
my bard had a healthy income source from drinking contests with dwarves
SadChan🍉🍉
my favorite race in DnD is Genasi or Half Elf. But ive had like 3 Genasi characters lol.
bakedbeans!!yJFwnIEMsg
genasi are really cool
i'm a water genasi enjoyer, played a water genasi warlock and he was good fun
SadChan🍉🍉
Ive played an Earth genasi in the underdark campaign with like, crystals all over his face. He was a sorcerer but ran into close combat with his sword lol.
bakedbeans!!yJFwnIEMsg
in pathfinder i played a water genasi dwarf kineticist to lean into the elemental-stuff and that was good fun
charged into battle with stone armour and launched rocks at people
SadChan🍉🍉
at once point I slid down a cliff using my meld with stone once per day to stick my arm half way into the cliff and then use it as a way of controlling my fall and slid down it superhero landing style :D
bakedbeans!!yJFwnIEMsg
okay that's very cool
bakedbeans!!yJFwnIEMsg
i like creative uses of spells
bakedbeans!!yJFwnIEMsg
one time i got cursed with "you cannot directly harm me" so i spent a while using mage hand to drop rocks on the guy's head from height
SadChan🍉🍉
my last genasi characters was the druid
SadChan🍉🍉
it was a storm genasi with lightning immunity. I was a storm druid, which is a homebrew subclass I made (made a nice pdf for it and everything) and basically it just adds some of the sorcerers lighting spells to the druid spell list and takes the sun druid summon and reflavors it to lightining.

and when I used shapeshift I exclusive shapeshifted into the demi-dragon monster thing and did a crocodile deathroll.

my backstory was that the circle of storms druids are specificall in touch with hunting outsiders like Hags and Wind Elementals who disturb the natural cycle. So the way normal druids hate necromnacy, Storms druids hate hats and elementals. And basically they are kind of like savage scandanivian tribesman themed so they are really violent, in tune with nature, kind of fake walmart pagan coded. they have no qualms about killing to achieve their goals of enforcing their super rigid and fucked up world view on nature, and this particular druid circle was patronized by a very old blue dragon because blue dragons are known for making permanent domains where they control the weather. so they dragon teaches its weather control technniqes to the druid cirlce in exchance for them maintainting their domain and keeping out outsiders. and both the druids and dragon are evil.

i really wanted to think about a cool way to do an evil druid character. the Circle of Storms is very lawful like all druids, just with an extreme ideaology.
