basically, some boards are thread-boards. /lgbt/ is (currently) a single infinite thread to help concentrate activity. otherwise we'd have like 10 threads with 7 total replies per day instead of 1 thread with 20,000 replies per day. it's not ideal but just a necessary growth stepping stone
