met my first elder queer / hacker / game dev mentor in those communities as a 14 ish yo

for a while they taught me a lot cus of having been doing professional gamedev n they were a hacker ive talked abt before having been through prison for hacking charges but
they taught me mainly abt the ethics/moral code side of hacking n all that which no one else my age was trying to figure out
all of the kids around my time coming up were going straight into cybercrim type stuff, n they shared a lot of lessons that were good
i was deep into wanting to do game dev but their life n struggles tempered me from pursuing it full time which im thankful for

i wanna work on a visual novel ive designed some of at some point, but doing research/writing on cyber/info sec hacking stuff n open source int combined w talking abt how countries are turning cybercriminals into all but official arms for enacting geopolitical interests

the US is a main focus on it due to the newer tactics being used on our own peeps, the whole NLRB thing and a literal com/764 kid joining doge

i learned that the kid had joined the US gov/doge around my birthday n it wrecked the vibe (even tho i was already lonely times bwawa)

but it kinda brought me to a realization of what theyll be doing
like the RU servers n so on or such being used to try and just export the entire national labor relations boards data at once w/o warning n then stalking the staff on the blue team who was like wtf is this, and lead to him leaking it

but i think RU tactics might be imported here which worries me a lot

i dont think we'll likely go that far, like its not off the table n we have done attacks like that (though the US mostly hoards smh why)

waiting for if we get some serious stuff released, another group w/in anon has been pushing for ppl to learn security culture & go out & protest/organize rn

yeah, the US doesnt have the exact problem RU does where the people interedted in hacking/cyber will only rly have the chance or income if they step into at least the bad side of grey hat ops & cybercrime networks
then some of those go onto either join the intelligence arms or pull off attacks like we see w some of the ransomware/worm attacks that arent entirely from inside the official parts of that state--

with a lot of these groups its become a very targeted system of spear phishing with attachments like pdfs that have malware in them or so on, its not super complex but its super low effort in terms of doing some research and background then sending it out to a bunch of people in a company
