i do think we need to end all the special legal protections for shareholders of companies, public and privately traded
there's all sorts of weird obligations to shareholders and then the entire system sort of works by squeezing as much profit as possible out of shareholders to pay them back for lying to them about your value so you can lie to the next batch until you get big enough for the government to start bailing you out
all we need to do is remove the bailouts and constant propping up of the exchange markets by insurance rate manipulation, and these companies would fucking implode on themselves in their schemes, and i think what we'd find is cooperative businesses outcompeting traded firms naturally

if the owners of a large scale operation were responsible personally for all liabilities, people would be extremely susceptible to constant lawsuits they cannot personally pay for or even attend
and spread out ownership structures like co-ops wouldn't even be possible without some kind of corporate legal framework (or rather, they would, but only in a vacuum -- they'd be impeded in hiring because every employee would suddenly be taking on legal responsibility for everything the business does)

actually starbucks is a good example here, i own some starbucks stock from working there

people are always responsible for personal actions even if taken on behalf of a company, as i understand it. llcs don't change the fact that if it can be proven in a court of law that a CEO gave some order that violated criminally-enforcable environmental or other regulations, or rose to criminally negligent harm, they can be sentenced for it
the issue is that when you can't prove who exactly was responsible the companies will often settle or pay fines for tertiary offenses as a way of stopping the investigation
and then on top of that not enough corporate behavior is actually criminalized individually
but like, a CEO can't have an employee go commit a crime and pin it on the company, unless they are hiding evidence
