I got in an argument with someone on twitter about the Rwandan genocide

last night

So I was up late lol

Also I got into it because they were talking about how the Interahamwe were getting weapons from France, and it's like... yeah the Interahamwe were at war with the RPF for a decade leading up to the Rwandan Genocide.

idk they were just making a weird argument where they kinda downplay the elements that really made it a genocide while also like... not blaming the Hutu extremists that perpetrated it. And as weird as this sounds, like Rwandan Genocide revisionism is a huge thing in Africa. The current Tutsi government in Rwandan has essentially removed mentions of moderate Hutus being killed alongside Tutsis, meanwhile the genocidaires are still active in the DRC. It's just like... a whole thing...

It kinda reminds me of the whole Holodomor debate. Where, alright, so the whole argument around it is essentially, can it be defined as a genocide because the policy themselves weren't necessarily designed to do that. Essentially, Stalin starves a whole region to death, but does it qualify as this or that. And the issue is that there are malicious people that involve themselves in this debate, and ignore that the crux of the "it wasn't a genocide" side is "Stalin was so incompetent, he engaged in this brutal policy that killed millions unintentionally". So it ends up like not being possible to have nuanced discussions with alot of people about it.

That's the thing that pisses me off, there is an *academic* debate to be had, but the average person really doesn't understand. And then you have malicious actors that cling onto that debate in order to run screen for a brutal dictator, because they know that they can soften up the image, when in reality the discussion is "did he kill millions *because they were Ukrainian* or did he kill millions because he sucked"

It just creates a situation where applying any sort of nuance will just be used as carte blanche for total psychos to bolster their own propaganda

I feel like uh the modifiers get a bit outta control later on

I feel like the strategy is to just take as many card to hand cards that you can, because there is no way you can optimize a deck

I only got one damage card, it was the snake king, but I ended up going against a guy that dealt damage back when I attacked them

The Snake King was good, you take 3 damage then deal 2 damage for each king, and I had like 3 kings. But I think hand cards are the only way to achieve a degree of consistency

Like the only reason I could do later rounds was the booster pack card

Because a specific major party in the country relies on the fact that younger people do not vote nearly as often as older people as a result of there not being a holiday. And there is enough politicians on the other side that rely on this fact to not get primaried out by younger politicians so they don't push hard for it.
