i dont play battletech but I keep hearing people talk about the new battletech release being cool

i didnt like mechwarrior I really didnt like the gameplay

mechwarriors UI made me want to vomit. it was so bad and everything was so clunky and poorly documented. I remember finally getting into the hanger and just having nothing explained well, no way to highlight stats to see what they actually do

I made a mutants and masterminds character once that was an overpowred airplane

In mutants and masterminds you could take pretty strong powers as equipment instead of a base power and it was essentially less points to do so because you can be disarmed, and then I used the rules for mechsuits to make a giant hercules aircraft with a ton of guns and I just played the plane. if the party went into a building I just circled around in the air and hacked things and did radio communications lol

my character was a like, a crippled genius who was basically a brain in a jar that designed and built the airplane

thats okay, I think the benefits of having a giant plane are good even if I cant go into the mountain base hehe. i accepted that when I designed the character so I took a bunch of detective / intelligence skills and stuff and I Just did it all remotely

so I could still be active in the roleplaying and hacking side of things

its a pretty basic RPG picture a gurps lite so the skills are pretty broad. I just used tech to make my skill checks remotely.

we only played a few sessions but I think I was planning on getting a mechsuit body as I leveled up

i had a problem once with a friend who had main character syndrom when I friendly fired the party

I had a spell that knocks everyone in an area down and does 1D4 damage or smth, really low amount of damage. its mostly for tripping. our bard ran in and was surrounded by like 15 goblins in the underdark. so my genasci sorcerer cast the spell to trip all the goblins around him and the bard like IRL got mad at me and rolled to intimidate me into not casting the spell

I get where the bard player was coming from, there was some friendly gnome NPCs in the area and I think he was interpreting that as a hostile action. he was playing a tiefling that was like.... the goodest good guy who will die to protect a stranger type of character.

but the DM was a new DM and letting him roll to intimidate me into him playing my character was kind of...

I think we argued for like 25 mintues and he got REALLY mad and his feelings were really hrut and I cast the spell and it literally didnt hit him or any of hte NPCs....

the only other problem I had in all my years of roleplaying was actually him DMing, we are still good friends, and another friend of mine got mad because my character whos backstory was staunchly anti elemental / anti outsider said "IM GOING TO ATTACK THOSE ELEMENTALS" and the other friend accused me of being a murder hobo

even though I said many, many times I was anti elemental.

I was playing a lawful evil Druid raised by blue dragons lol

Yuan-Ti are cool because their evil comes from like... sociopathy and being alien and inhuman. They are alien and judging them by human terms is wierd because thats just how they are lol. One of the cooler DND races imo.

my favorite race in DnD is Genasi or Half Elf. But ive had like 3 Genasi characters lol.

Ive played an Earth genasi in the underdark campaign with like, crystals all over his face. He was a sorcerer but ran into close combat with his sword lol.

at once point I slid down a cliff using my meld with stone once per day to stick my arm half way into the cliff and then use it as a way of controlling my fall and slid down it superhero landing style :D

my last genasi characters was the druid

it was a storm genasi with lightning immunity. I was a storm druid, which is a homebrew subclass I made (made a nice pdf for it and everything) and basically it just adds some of the sorcerers lighting spells to the druid spell list and takes the sun druid summon and reflavors it to lightining.

and when I used shapeshift I exclusive shapeshifted into the demi-dragon monster thing and did a crocodile deathroll.

my backstory was that the circle of storms druids are specificall in touch with hunting outsiders like Hags and Wind Elementals who disturb the natural cycle. So the way normal druids hate necromnacy, Storms druids hate hats and elementals. And basically they are kind of like savage scandanivian tribesman themed so they are really violent, in tune with nature, kind of fake walmart pagan coded. they have no qualms about killing to achieve their goals of enforcing their super rigid and fucked up world view on nature, and this particular druid circle was patronized by a very old blue dragon because blue dragons are known for making permanent domains where they control the weather. so they dragon teaches its weather control technniqes to the druid cirlce in exchance for them maintainting their domain and keeping out outsiders. and both the druids and dragon are evil.

i really wanted to think about a cool way to do an evil druid character. the Circle of Storms is very lawful like all druids, just with an extreme ideaology.

nice I like kitbashing too. I made an ogryn with a big greatcoat like my darktide ogryn and I used greenstuff to sculpt it myself. :)

I think over all weaker than most of the 5E subclasses because its pretty much a crappy summon (that takes one of your shapeshift charges) and side grades.

there was a boss I took underwater, and used the crocodile grapple rules to grapple him in an endless loop underwater so he drowned to death
