The US produces like 10% of global crude, or did at least. There is a difference between crude production and having refineries that produce processed oil products. Older Bolsheviks were actually interested in economic development to the extent at which they basically won over Russians on the grounds of ignoring foreign policy objectives for the sake of helping material conditions for the average Russian. Similarly, Lenin wrote an open letter to the US for aid during their numerous crises, which he knew would be used by the US to prove it's own superiority, but he did it because well like he didn't want shit to collapse.

8chan was very good, I think but it had different communities because people could make their own boards.

That shouldn't be too surprising. In terms of "what has the lowest barrier to entry that people would talk about" politics but left wing is up there next to soyjaks and raids

I find it funny to use an obscure term and watch other people on there use it. Like I heard the term "Whedonistic" from an episode of the Film Critters podcast and used it and now I see it used semi-often.

I feel like a lot of LGBT people in the imageboard sphere have a tendency to dismiss a lot of sites because they're transphobic or racist or something, even though that's how imageboards have always been throughout their entire history.
It's just how it be sometimes with the anonymous internet.

The right wing is 100% minmaxxed into winning electorally, God knows their understanding of everything from economics to foreign policy to basic legal procedure is completely retarded. I would say that looking at the guys that are good at nothing aside from electoral politics might be smart when discussing purely electoral politics. The left is way, way, way to prone to purity spiral.

That's because "the left" doesn't exist.

If the left decides not to exist, then their factions will be defeated in detail by the right, that's how it goes

does make me curious about how the changing landscape of the web might effect it, like, search engines getting less useful because of AI slop both crawled and implemented, centralized social media becoming unmoderatable, if the algorithm stuff just crashes then there'll be ramifications on how politics play out.

The right wings entire media strategy is pretending that everybody is aligned against them in the mainstream and pretending they exist in this small niche "alt" media space. Meanwhile they actually have massive influence over the mainstream too. The left media strategy is shitting in their diapers because the left is retarded babies when it comes to any sort of media strategy

I think the recent kick back against content farms might bring hope on that front. If it's cringe to just have a youtuber repeat the consensus back to ya over and over then kids won't fall into rabbitholes as often hopefully.

I think the main reason people complain about search engines is that they don't know how to use the advanced features such as "site:" operators and verbaitim search and disabling the broken duplicates filter on Google. Google Web Search still has the largest index compared to Bing and Yandex which are the only other two big regular crawlers left. DDG is just Bing with some weird modifications for certain queries (like switching to Google for verbaitim search queries)

The issue is that the only group that takes this to heart is the center and center left. Everyone else just says "heh, I am much too smart to have my opinions manipulated by an algorithm and regurgitated back to me" *goes back to watching JRE*

The ultimate media cheatcode is convincing your audience that their views are repressed by the mainstream either by lying (the right) or because their views are generally repressed (the far left).

I will admit that I don't think the left was being deplatformed on social media at least until very recently, but I am not sure. In terms of actual politics though, yeah the left has never really had a platform outside of revolutionary governments.

There is a distinction between something like eh... ACAB and something like "dense discussion of dialectical materialism". The more neutered understandings of ACAB have been subsumed by the mainstream left.

All political parties have shit media strategies now because as the linear TV and other forms of traditional media such as television, newspapers, the radio are declining and replaced with algorithmic shortform video being the main form of media for young and middle aged people there will be less ability to advertise your views. In the US at least most people don't bother with engaging with anything political at all because they are too busy working. Political participation is something more and more for a select group of people who have enough free time to be engaged at all.

many a leftist has the same tired problem of trying to go on a diatribe of some esoteric marxist theory to a random person who could not care less
anon
>>397467
The right wing media strategy partially hinges on repeating hundreds of easily disprovable lies that require the barest amount of political participation to understand why they are flawed, then just relying on people that don't care or don't understand much about politics to believe them.

You should take the two axes test and dedicate your entire political belief system to adhering to your quadrant. Libertarian Right? You must support Pinochet at every opportunity and tell people to read Hoppe. Auth Left? You must defend Stalin relentlessly and insist that the Holodomor didn't happen and if it did the kulaks deserved it. It's that simple
