When you basically grab them by the gi and pull them onto you while wrapping your legs, ie pulling into guard. Which you would not do if you were in MMA because yeah you have the advantage in terms of grappling now, but their fists have gravity on their side so you are getting your head beaten in. In the absolute most egregious cases, you don't even pull them down to the ground, you just lay on your back, but my gym literally would not allow you to do that if you rolled, like the coaches would tell you to get the fuck up

0.2422% laptopbooger!boymodewng
but it's definitely dependent on your specific community
anon
>>750160
Like think about it sort of logically, the center of christian doctrine is that you have an all powerful and all knowing god, but like... why would you have to pray to some dude that was tangentially related to that god in order to get your specific prayer about veterans to him? And then you have full blown voodoo syncretism like burying statues of saints in your yard upside down to help sell property
0.2423% laptopbooger!boymodewng
yeah and this all-powerful god chose to act through saints and those people should also be worshipped, and Mary literally birthed and aspect of God so in a sense she is the Mother of everyone and should be worshipped as well and erasing her is purely sexist
>>750167
anon
>>750166
That's where I think prots can be insane, because they can also overcorrect *so* hard on this that they outright insult and degrade Mary. But I do understand when they argue that certain Catholic approaches to the saints are borderline worship, which is something that officially the Catholic church argues shouldn't be the case as well

>>750179
0.2428% laptopbooger!boymodewng
yeah i'm not saying that it doesn't happen outside of the catholic church but the caltholic church defintely covered it up
>>750180
anon
>>750177
likewise with orthodox jewish communities. there are lots of cases of sexual violence where the rabbis tell those involved that they shouldn't go to the police because it is better to resolve things internally. for some reason religious radicalism and sexual abuse tend to go together.
>>750182
anon
>>750178
And I get that complaint, like 100%, I just often find it to be a "pot calling the kettle black" situation, except even worse because I would legitimately stake my life on the sexual abuse thing being substantially worse in prot communities than in catholic communities, to the extent at which it is entirely normalized in alot of the protestant communities I interacted with
0.2429% laptopbooger!boymodewng

wow that's really interesting. also well done for leaving that must've been difficult. would you say the appeal of those kinds of spaces comes from like the ability to say things you couldn't usually say in other trans spaces? like expressing anger? i've heard that. also ppl go there to escape 'hugboxing' which some people think exists in main trans spaces, others don't. i think i see the appeal in it for that as like an escape from 'toxic positivity' but then it's just so in the opposite direction of just 'toxic negativity' that it's then not useful ig. does that make sense? maybe i'm speaking nonsense lol

it does make sense. many people say that's the reason why they use it. i think it's accurate, but also that some of the people post there just happen not to be great either. you can be both a victim and a victimizer sometimes. as for the appeal, for me, it was the ability to debate anything. unfortunately lots of people who had little interest in discussing things honestly made things way harder.

so, funny story, i'm pretty sure i got hugboxed with regard to my appearance on /lgbt/ lol. ime it isn't really the lack of hugboxing as it is some very mean people being cruel to everyone and some very nice people still being overly nice to everyone. imo the freedom came more from being able to discuss anything without getting banned.

like the city owned grocery stores seems stupid as fuck, but at a municpal level i don't see why it's not worth trying even if it fails,
anon
Uh the big fear is that alot of the money is supposedly going to be pulled from a fund put together to pay private grocery stores off that accept SNAP and EBT

>>750286
0.2441% laptopbooger!boymodewng
i don't think it will work, but i also don't necessarily see the issue in trying it. I think it could be a lot like UBI, where people thought it would be a terrbile idea, but in all the pilot programs that have been tried so far, it has shown positive results in productivity and economic activity

i think there's not enough data to really say how effective it could be

I mean for one grocery store competition is very uh... tight, it's not exactly easy so I understand the paranoia around a public enterprise getting thrown into the mix that intends on not turning over any profit. But I also do just think that if private grocers do end up having to cut back on certain SNAP or EBT programs, it'll likely do more harm than good, I don't particularly know the logistics
0.2444% laptopbooger!boymodewng
it's kind of not tight. A lot of grocery stores AFAIK almost directly collude against each other.
0.2445% laptopbooger!boymodewng
but anyways what do you have to refute this
0.2446% laptopbooger!boymodewng
>With New York City already spending millions of dollars to subsidize private grocery store operators (which are not even required to take SNAP/WIC!), we should redirect public money to a real “public option.”

is it factual that they don't even HAVE to take snap in order to receive the money

>Zohran has a plan to bring down the cost-of-living through city-owned grocery stores, universal childcare, and other bold proposals, and he knows exactly how to pay for it, too. Zohran’s revenue plan will raise the corporate tax rate to match New Jersey’s 11.5%, bringing in $5 billion. And he will tax the wealthiest 1% of New Yorkers—those earning above $1 million annually—a flat 2% tax (right now city income tax rates are essentially the same whether you make $50,000 or $50 million). Zohran will also implement common-sense procurement reform, end senseless no-bid contracts, hire more tax auditors, and crack down on fine collection from corrupt landlords to raise an additional $1 billion.

>In the world’s richest city, making the minimum wage shouldn’t mean living in poverty. But that’s exactly what it means for working people today, even with the hard-won increase in the state minimum wage. When incomes don’t match the true cost of living, government services have to make up the difference – effectively subsidizing low wage employers.

>As Mayor, Zohran will champion a new local law bringing the NYC wage floor up to $30/hour by 2030. After that, the minimum wage will automatically increase based on the cost of living and productivity increases. When working people have more money in their pocket, the whole economy thrives.
