i do kind of agree with him, but it should be handled by making major social media elements have to do ID verification on their end instead of a EU wide service that way anonymous conversation can still exist in certain places and you have safer spaces for more average users. obviously total destruction of anonymity is like big brother shit but stuff like facebook and twitter are filled with bots and foreign actor political cyber terrorism (part of the reason trump got elected).

tieing posting on websites like that to real identity would reign in the abillity to spread like blatent foreign actor misinfo and such

a big part of if a country is nice to live in for me is how good are the consumer goods, how good is the food/produce? how affordable is shipping. EU is more expensive consumer goods for less variety / higher quality.

No its more that when you go to a dedicated super market it will just have like...
Im sure vedgtables and deli meats are pretty comparable but you will also have like import foods from all over the world, german, mexican, japanese products just on the shelves. the variety is very big, sauces, spices and such. and most will have fish markets and such. our access to import goods is insanely good.
weather
true, EU doesn't rly have a lot of import stuff. some of the low-price shops have german and eastern-european stuff, but japanese? (native) mexican shit? nah
BigSadEnjoyer
yea in the US even cheap shitty places to shop for food like Walmart will have tons of import international options.
weather
i slurppose if the choice is between
a) having lots of variety in food and produce
or
b) not being actively hatecrimed by the govt and society
then it seems like a simple choice to me....
weather
i feel the pain of change tho tbh it's not nice to have to upend ur entire shit and learn an entirely different way of being

same day amazon delivery is insane to me. fastest i could get somethin is 2 days and that's fierce speedy to us bogdwellers

I mean thats why all the middle class educated people from all over the world move to work and live in the US lol. the rate of masters/PHD degrees is like 40% more among immigrants than the general population. if you are worth something you move to the US where you can access shit you cant get in most other countries and get paid way more.

BigSadEnjoyer
yea me too but unfortunately all the european countries that have that kind of security are extremely gatekeepy and its literally impossible to get permanent residency/citizenship.

even the "hordes of brown people" european rightoids complain about are all not on permanent residency status and just get deported randomly all the fucking time through no fault of their own.
weather
perhaps with enough pressure from this usa exodus, their restrictions may relax.......
weather
maybe i'm biased (i am) but i think living anywhere else is better than living in america, from the shit i see about it
BigSadEnjoyer
I think a big misconception that foreigners have about america is viewing it as a monolith. like america is INSANELY diverse, as diverse as all of europe is. the culture and social norms of like rural oklahoma are just another country entirely from maine. we are so big, so diverse in biome and geography and have such a diversity of specialized economies that its really more like a conglomeration of different countries than people who arent americans or even americans themselves think.

if you live in a place like new york you wont have to worry about the government infringing on your rights and such. but if you live in texas you cant even get an abortion now. the difference between the states is really big.
weather
understandable when individual US states are the size and have the sovereignty of whole countries....
weather
i guess if the president of europe said "i think trans people should die and rich people should live" i guess i would not like to live in europe
the downside of it all being technically one big country is that the differences are smudged out and one group of people can dictate how you live ur day2day
BigSadEnjoyer
I will say that trump is literally unprecented in what hes doing also most europeans are america haters xD
weather
idk i'm an america hater lol
BigSadEnjoyer
Ive never talked to a european who liked america I think part of it is that even in america its very trendy to hate america
weather
based
BigSadEnjoyer
Like im left leaning so the majority of people I know hate america xD

but I think there are many many wonderful things about my country that make it worth fighting for im just worried that with whats going on now the fight is truly lost. I am praying that america doesnt go full on nazi and than having a civil war or smth and balkanizing
weather
that's a good point........
as an external america-hater, i just see the downtrend as reason to gtfo and live somewhere else, but if it's somewhere you really LIKE and WANT to be good, then it sucks more cause u wanna stay and make it good.... i can fix him....
BigSadEnjoyer
well I think america has created many beautiful ideas and such. like I think a huge part of modern lgbt theory is an american export and thats a good thing. like many countries see pro LGBT activism as specically an american export like poland. america has done many good things, had many good ideas its very complicated.
weather
very true, i do think a lotta queer liberation shit has come from america and been taken by other countries...
weather
it's so big that it's bound to have a lot of good sides and a lot of bad sides, in equal measure
BigSadEnjoyer
I think the general distrust and hatred for government in general that exists to some extent in EVERY American is kind of based haha
weather
hating your government should be a baseline, cause it means they always have something to improve on
weather
no governing body or way of running a country is perfect or even close to it, so we gotta keep reachin for something better instead of pissing around in the dirt like it's the best we can do
weather
if there's one thing humans can do is try to do a thing better

BigSadEnjoyer
yea pretty much. also the electoral colelge is insane. like I live in NY state which is like 65% dem vote on every issue in every region. so my vote doesnt matter.

how the college works is if 65% of the state is blue the whole state is blue, so if a state is always blue or red you literally dont need to vote its a forgone conclusion.

and the voting that matters insanely much like the houses (senate/congress/local government) no one votes in.
>>97997
weather
"ohh noo better voting systems are too complicated..... numbers??? ranked voting?? AAAA it makes my head huwt...."
weather
>>97995
and then the swing states are the ones that make up the actual difference and get heavily pandered to. electoral college sounds like a good idea when society didn't have instant communication rocks in every home and place of business and in every person's pocket
BigSadEnjoyer
yea it was designed for a different time but the problem is again 2 party system. both sides are trying to win the "who rigs the boundries of the electoral collage better" game and neither wants to get rid of it because they both covet the benefits of rigging the college to make them win every time.
weather
playing a proxy war in your own mf country. embarrassing
weather
i wonder if america will ever actually change how the fundamental shit works in voting and government, cause it seems like the "murrican perfection" mindset is so deep-baked in culture that the idea of changing it is too insane to imagine
weather
like more than two parties with a different voting system.... no more electoral college, or reduced importance.... those sound like they never gonna happen
BigSadEnjoyer
it wont happen until a civil war, balkanization event or the singularity achieves conciousness and imposes new forms of power on the world
weather
we literally need AGI in order for america to give up the electoral college. insane
it's new heights to the "we can imagine the end of the world better than the end of capitalism" shit
BigSadEnjoyer
yea... xD
weather
i hope there is some kind of "altercation" within america and i hope it doesn't kill very many people at all, but any kind of internal civil war kicks everyone up the ass and makes it insanely obvious that what's currently happening is NOT working. get better baby please please please go to rehab america
BigSadEnjoyer
I think best case scenario is an environmental disaster or world war or something, so we had a president FDR who put in place all these socialist programs that literally revitalized and fixed the country after the great depression, which was caused by the finanical insititution and rich people taking too much to the point society and the economy broke down. the worse things get the more political power the left has to actually move society forward. unironically rightoids gain power in periods of stability and prosperity because enough people identify with the power structures they want to "protecc whats theirs from the other"

when the dust bowl/great depression/wwII happened back to back times got really hard and that built a huge amount of social solidarity, class conciousness and a desire to make things better. americans are REALLY good at reacting to disasters when doom and death is on the line.

so I think the best case scenario is actually massive environmental disaster, financial ruin and maybe a bit of global war and death and destruction and then finally people will be so dispossessed and unhappy they have to turn to a better form of government to get things running agian.

its literally what happened with FDR's new deal.

#ai what is the american new deal FDR

The American New Deal was a series of economic programs initiated by President Franklin D. Roosevelt (FDR) in the 1930s to combat the effects of the Great Depression. It aimed to provide relief, reform, and recovery for Americans suffering from high unemployment rates and widespread poverty.

The New Deal included various initiatives such as the creation of federal agencies like the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and Works Progress Administration (WPA), which provided jobs for millions of unemployed individuals; Social Security Act, which introduced old-age pensions and disability insurance; National Industrial Recovery Act, which established codes to regulate fair labor practices; and Agricultural Adjustment Act, which sought to stabilize farm prices.

In addition to these programs, FDR also implemented policies that regulated banks and stock markets, created public works projects like dams and bridges, and offered financial aid to struggling industries. The New Deal significantly expanded the role of government in providing social welfare services and stimulating economic growth.

While controversial at the time due to its large-scale government intervention into private enterprise, many credit FDR's New Deal policies with helping lift America out of one of its worst economic crises. Today it remains a significant part of American history as an example of how government can intervene during times of crisis.

unfortunately it was racist and black people didnt get the benifits :(
BigSadEnjoyer
believe it or not the racial disparity in class wasnt as bad before the 1930s/1940s. poor whites and poor blacks lived pretty similar quality of life. then the New Deal came out with all this investment into working class families and it was only given to white families and lifted tons of white families out of poverty and just left the black families in ghettos in cities.

thats why I am very pro reperations there are people who are still alive today who were denied these federal home loans and they should be able to sue for the racist denial of these benefits that tons of white families are still benefiting from today int he forst generational wealth
>>98154

>>98024
weather
>>98021
#this (SO much fucking this)
BigSadEnjoyer
I think its a problem to say rich fucks though because lots of people are considered "rich" but they arent the people who are the problem. like if someone has 2 million dollars they arent really living much different from people who make 200 grand USD a year. the problem is the giga million/billionaires who literally control the entire government.

the problem is corporations, which have all the rights of humans PLUS more but are procedurally generated entities with no morality, ethics or constraints in the evil they will inflict on the world in pursuit of infinite growth. people being wealthy or being able to get wealthy isnt the problem. the problem is corporations have the rights to destroy the planet and society to make line go up and the fact that its leadership is LEGALLY required to participate in this process even if they themselves have something like a conscious.
>>98029
weather
good point.......... important to be specific rather than broad
weather
corporations as analogy to a cancer hmmmmmmmmmmm
weather
>>98025
strong agree that a lot of the problem comes from megacorps whose sole purpose is to extract value and give it to shareholders.... i guess it's a natural consequence of centralising power and wealth like that, you succeed in a capitalist world where money is king so you want to "succeed" and win the game even MORE
BigSadEnjoyer
modern economics is actually starting to realize that there is no way to prevent monopolization in an unregulated economy and it doesnt have a solution to RETVRN to a time when competition actually existed.
BigSadEnjoyer
I think if there is a single policy I could implement, like if you came to me and said make a law you can make one law:

Foreign entities can own no property. Foreign individuals can own a max amount of individual properties with a hard cap on the amount of acreage.
>>98033
weather
forcefully breaking up monopolies seems like a good idea, if only as a stopgap before corps just make a bunch of shell companies and split themselves up like horcruxes or w/e
weather
>>98031
would stop one country seeing another as an investment opportunity for limited resource of land
BigSadEnjoyer
cost of living is 1 to 1 tied with foreign ownership.
>>98035
weather
>>98034
as in.... more foreign owners make cost of living go up?
BigSadEnjoyer
yes.
BigSadEnjoyer
Foreign owners make giant holding companies that own literally the majority of habitable buildings and then turn them all to air bnbs that dont have long term tenants and no one has anyone to live anymore
BigSadEnjoyer
thats why NYC banned all air bnbs and other such types of companies but its a drop in the bucket. foreign owned real estate conglomerates have so much market control they can price fix and artificially raise rent prices to the maximum amount possible and they will make more money by haveing 30% of their properties unooccupied by rent them all for triple what they are worth. its just monopoly power and its all due to foreign real estate investment.
>>98043
weather
minmaxing rent gains seems evil and bad
weather
i don't like what airbnbs have become, but the concept seems good... as u say, without some kind of limit it just becomes a game to make fuckloads of money from limited land
BigSadEnjoyer
the problem is megacorps not airbnbs themselves xD
BigSadEnjoyer
the real estate megacorps will make more money to turn half a city into airbnbs than just have decent rental spaces that are well managed and fulfill all the rights tenents have. so they choose the option thats MORE MONEY and then the cities literally go into a death spiral (see LA, san francisco, san diego)
>>98044
weather
>>98038
keeping properties empty is fucking EVIL and i don't like it

weather
>>98042
much easier to make rich cunts pay for 30% of ur properties than actually make livable spaces for the majority of people (yucky ewww)
BigSadEnjoyer
under Biden there was actually a bunch of lawsuits by the federal government against real estate companies that exist purely for land owners to price fix. essentially the reccomend how much rent you should charge for your property and let you see what all the other renters in network are charging. that way if the price starts going up you can know to raise your price. but problem is the price NEVER goes down so all that happened was the company was used by real estate monopolies to trick independent landlords into raising their prices so they dont compete with them.
>>98047
BigSadEnjoyer
and they have proof they lied about land value and manipulated the data landlords saw to try to make them charge what was convenient for the monopolies
>>98049
weather
>>98045

I think every country should prioritize their citizens prosperity over other countries every time, and that should be true of every level of government. Look out for the people you represent. they addressed it in Detroit: Become Human and it was a cool plot point to motivate people to hate the androids. The androids worked 24/7 for a one time cost and fairly cheap maintenance so all service jobs and lower class income dangerous jobs were deleted in a single decade as all countries adopted the technology. So millions and millions of people worldwide became zero income no future homeless types.

the less people you need, the value of labor goes lower and lower (because there are more people who want to work than you need to work) your bargaining power goes down and you get less and less of the pie until bezos owns 99% of all wealth. Eventually a switch flips and the dispossessed people literally turn into night of the living dead and break into the ivory towers and devour you. Its not sustainable.

Altered Carbon: Mind Swap/Body Swap technology is perfect so rich people live forever. Therefore they accrue 99% of the wealth and political power and never die off so you cant even wait for reach people to die to get gaps to advance society creating a perfect crystalline locked stagnation with them at the top of the pile.
Detroit: Become Human: Android slave labor replaces humans entirely meaning humans cannot meaningfully participate in any economic activity and advance themselves reducing them to literal cattle that government only provides the basic neccessities for out of publicity and the minimum obligation.

#ai explain why the erie canal was an important technological acheivement for the state of new york

The Erie Canal was an important technological achievement for the state of New York because it connected the Atlantic Ocean to the Great Lakes, revolutionizing transportation and trade in the region. Before its construction, goods had to be transported overland through difficult terrain or shipped around the southern tip of Florida, which was time-consuming and expensive.

The canal provided a direct water route from New York City to cities like Buffalo and Cleveland, significantly reducing travel time and cost. This allowed for easier movement of goods such as lumber, grain, and coal from western states to eastern markets. It also opened up new markets for products manufactured in cities along the canal.

Furthermore, constructing this 363-mile-long artificial waterway required innovative engineering techniques that pushed boundaries in technology at the time. The canal included structures such as locks and aqueducts that were built with advanced methods using concrete instead of traditional materials like stone or wood.

In addition to its economic impact on trade and transportation, the Erie Canal also played a role in social development by promoting settlement westward into previously untapped territories. As more people moved westward along these newly accessible routes, towns sprung up along their banks creating opportunities for commerce and industry.

Moreover, once completed in 1825 after eight years of construction efforts involving thousands of workers (including many Irish immigrants), it became a symbol of American ingenuity and progress. Its success inspired other states to invest in similar projects resulting in a network of canals connecting various parts of America together.

Overall, the Erie Canal's impact went far beyond just improving transportation; it transformed New York into one of America's most powerful commercial centers while fostering economic growth throughout much wider regions than ever before possible.Furthermore,it set an examplefor future industrialization, and ultimately helped shape modern America itself. It is still considered oneofthe greatest achievementsin American historyand remainsan iconic landmark today.

I wish all the people who percieved trans women as predatory men, simply wanted to modify human genetics, and change human reproduction to get rid of men altogether, if trans women are allegedly dangerous predatory men, then it logically follows cis men are no better and everyone should be female in the future period... i dont hate everyone whose "cis male" i am just saying, if trans women are really so dangerous or whatever cause of alleged maleness, then it logically follows we would be better off with a pure natal female future. I transition cause its the closest i can get to a natal female state, but in all honesty, I don't like that multiple genders exist, I want us trans women to exist temporarily, until we can figure out how to create a future human species which is exclusively female. All the transphobic stuff in politics just makes me feel this way even more so.

#smartai why were the USA founding fathers and majority of us presidents extremely narcissistic about being white men??? What made them develop such extreme narcissistic racism?

The answer to this question is complex and multifaceted. It is important to acknowledge that the term "narcissism" was not widely used or understood during the time of the USA founding fathers and early US presidents. However, their actions and beliefs can be viewed through a lens of white privilege and superiority.

During this time period, being a white man in America meant holding immense power and control over others, particularly people of color and women. This societal structure heavily influenced the mindset of many prominent figures in American history.

Furthermore, at the time of America's founding, ideas about race were deeply rooted in pseudoscientific theories such as Social Darwinism which claimed that certain races were inherently superior to others based on physical characteristics. These beliefs further reinforced feelings of racial superiority among white men.

Additionally, colonization efforts by European countries had already established systems where non-white individuals were seen as inferior and subjugated by their colonizers. The same mentality carried over into America's formation with settlers believing they were entitled to land belonging to Native Americans simply because they saw them as less civilized.

It should also be noted that narcissistic tendencies are often associated with power imbalances – those who hold more power tend to exhibit more signs of narcissism due to their belief in their own importance. As mentioned before, during this time period white men held almost all positions of power in society which likely contributed to an increase in these behaviors.

In summary, while it may not have been explicitly labeled as "narcissistic," there were many cultural factors at play during America's early years that fostered attitudes of extreme racism among its leaders towards non-white individuals.
