anon
maybe that's a problem of power centralization rather than copyright in itself. Like what if you had copyright and just really high taxes on centralized power/wealth?
>>90929
anon
and its cheap as FUCK to produce, there is no reason it should cost $500 per epi pen
BigSadEnjoyer
>>90927
power centrilization is the ONLY reason you need copyright law. If power was evenly distributed and people fairly paid for their work we wouldn't need to worry about artists/inventors being fairly compensated. Patent law exists FOR YOU TO CENTRALIZE POWER. Its literally a legal process to OWN IDEAS, I.E. consolidate power around something and enforce it against those who infringe your rights.
anon
>>90922
yep patent law is a sham i have close experience with it, it is actually a fucking burden on society in its current state, and it's entirely contingent on the patent office fully understanding the technology in question which js NEVER EVER EVER true
>>90934
anon
>>90925
sounds like it should be highly available then
#ai why aren't epipens very widely available?

1. Cost: Epipens can be expensive, with a single unit costing between $300 to $600. This high cost makes it difficult for some people to afford and may limit their availability.

2. Limited production: Only two companies currently manufacture epinephrine auto-injectors in the United States, Mylan and Kaleo Pharmaceuticals. The limited number of manufacturers leads to lower supply and higher prices.

3. Prescription-only medication: In most countries, epipens are classified as prescription drugs, meaning they can only be obtained with a doctor's prescription. This restricts access to those who have been diagnosed with allergies or at risk of anaphylaxis.

4. Distribution challenges: Epipens require proper storage conditions (temperature control) during transportation and storage, which adds complexity to distribution channels compared to other medications that do not have such requirements.

5. Expired stockpiles: Many schools, public places, and workplaces keep stockpiles of epipens in case of emergency use for individuals who may need them unexpectedly but these supplies often expire before being used due to infrequent usage or lack of awareness on how long the pen lasts after expiration.

6.Patent protection laws : Mylan has patent exclusivity over its brand-name EpiPen until 2025 making it difficult for competitors make generic versions at more affordable prices without infringing on patents .

7.Lack of regulation/availability outside North America : While epi-pen is widely available in Canada , US & Europe due strict government regulations . Availability is still very limited across Asia , Africa & Middle East - where prevalence rates are generally much higher than North America /Europe .

8.Insurance coverage limitations : Some insurance plans do not cover the full cost or any portion at all leaving patients burdened by out-of-pocket expenses creating barriers against accessibility especially among low-income families unable pay-out large sums upfront .
why aren't epipens very widely available?

>>90934
Yeah theres entire massive """""pharma companies""""" who are literally just patent trolls
>>90939
anon
they establish "working prototypes" (lie) of every possible idea thats new and being devloped and spam patent applications with increasingly broad context and see what they can get away with and they have 0 intention to ever actually produce any of those ideas and they literallt prevent people from working on those ideas because they know full well they'll get it stolen and then the patent troll doesnt even use it they just sell it to one of the more middlingly ethical pharmas

I think the national churches probably made their localities better off than the catholic church did, as did people getting to choose churches which better reflected their values. something something consent markets something something
anon
Idk the papacy provided so much fucking stability during the middle ages, yea they started a bunch of wars, but they also prevented even more petty squabbling over nations i think

Its lesser of two evils really, i just think the catholic church at least has a bit of credit to its name, whereas the protestant movement has extracted so much resources from the states, the south specifically, and given basically 0 of it back, at least the catholic church does genuine charity

right, but these categories just fall apart as objective measures once you remove god. you kind of have to go by consensus, and once you do that, theres literally nothing stopping uncle adolf from being a good guy because the majority of germany agrees that he is. the theistic viewpoint is actually a lot more consistent

They do with god too. Nah to me hitler is bad because of the effects of his actions. Moral feeling is your perspective, not something voted on or commanded onto you

no they dont, when you have god and the bible you can very objectively reason hitler to be a monster from the text which is absolute moral authority

Genesis 19:4-8

The bible says that we're all supposed to give up on the manipulations of the pharcees and we should follow the word of christ. Martin luther got us closer to honoring the lord our god, one of the 10 commandments, as lead by aryan germans. By empowering aryan germans we will likely honor our father and mother, kill heritics, and make god win more. Thus we are justified in fighting all non germans in any way neccesary.

I think this is important because it stops us from abusing people when we are wrong about what's going on, or are blinded by our own lusts. It's not that self determanism is in itself good, to me it still serves human experience, but it's guarded us against mistakes in the past

But the religious worldview is wrong. I agree that I will have feelings which are bad, but the religious worldview people didn't get it through a myricle. They got it through their own internal thoughts and experiences.

I'm glad I was made to think the thoughts I see as moral, like being socialized not to be agressive, but ulitmately those are parts of me, not something external with me having an 'evil' self
anon
im not trying to convince you away from the religion im trying to tell you that if you take the bible as absolute moral authority it means you condone a lot of very bad things
anon
there are theological arguments to get around this that you can use but they basically all revolve around not accepting the bible as absolute moral authority

I just think most people who say the bible is their absolute moral authority are cherry picking parts of it they agree with and discarding the rest because the text is so expansive and condones or forbids basically anything you can think of

Almost all our ideas about right and wrong in the west are predicated on the christian tradition, and i think those ideas of right and wrong are generally correct, but saying a text like the bible is absolute anything is kinda silly

this whole religious debate can honestly be traced back to b*ptism, because laypeople were not supposed to interpret the scriptures themselves anyway - that's why we had people who go to school for this (past tense)

A lot of the time people are traumatized or backing bad things and it gets bad. So you should affirm that you care about the other person and don't support crazy bad stuff probably. I with I could cleanly make religious claims illegal but I wouldn't actually want to hurt people or break up their communities when they're being ok.
